What is an online booking tool?

An online booking tool, or OBT, gives authorized company users a digital way to search or request travel and follow the booking process. In a corporate setting, its role can also include permissions, approvals and management visibility. The features available depend on the implemented product and the company's agreed setup.

Professional travel management and a digital workflow

In an agent-assisted arrangement, a company's travel requests are coordinated through agreed communication channels. A corporate OBT can place parts of that workflow in an interface for employees and approvers. Professional servicing, commercial conditions and responsibilities still need to be defined. The tool supports the service model; access to it does not replace a company agreement.

Visibility and cost allocation

Planned booking visibility, cost-center allocation and reporting to support expenditure oversight.

Coordination with CTS operations

Planned coordination of agent-assisted reservations, invoicing and account management, subject to the implemented integration.

Reporting and travel spend analysis

Planned trip and expenditure reports by employee, department, cost center and period, with data exports to support financial analysis and assessment of company travel-policy compliance.

Airline corporate programme integration

Planned support for connecting a company's airline corporate programmes and applying eligible fares and benefits. Capabilities will depend on company enrolment, airline terms and available technical integrations.

Travel notifications and reminders

Planned reminders for upcoming trips, flight cancellation and schedule-change notifications, security alerts and travel-document expiry reminders. Coverage and timeliness will depend on connected data sources and the information recorded in the system.
